A daylight robbery occurred in Alor Setar, Kedah, where a man in his sixties snatched an elderly woman's gold necklace.
Kota Setar District Police Chief Siti Noor issued a statement today (5th), stating that the female victim reported an unknown man approached her while she was waiting for medication at a clinic at 8 AM yesterday (4th).
The man claimed he could provide traditional treatments, but the elderly woman repeatedly declined. After leaving the clinic, the victim realized her gold necklace was missing and suspected the man had stolen it. "The suspect had previously claimed the necklace was loose and pretended to help the victim secure it."
The stolen necklace, valued at approximately RM6000, prompted the victim to file a report at the Kota Setar Police Station at 12:20 PM yesterday.
The police have launched an investigation under Section 420 of the Penal Code for fraud, seeking a man in his sixties, about 1.52 meters tall.
Authorities urge anyone with information to contact the Kota Setar District Police Headquarters (04-7747222) or report to any nearby police station.
